Hey Reader, I've just come out of the last CNVS event for the year and I'm feeling pretty buzzy π. I used to accidentally monologue my way through these things. I felt deeply uncomfortable in the' spotlight', and I'm sure it showed up in my verbal clumsiness and erratic board guidance π . But these days I've taken a crucial page out of Said's Saddouk's book and centered the sessions around hands-on exercises rather than one-sided demos. I'm there to help you make things, not tell you how to make things. And surprise surprise, it's working quite well! π€£ This week we made Christmas cards, and woah! It was fun and action packed! I'd love to share the final board, but it's got pictures of people's loved ones on there and I don't think it's right to share such close up access. But if you'd like to see the original board before we worked on it... well that's over here!
The board was made entirely from CNVS illustrations and free images from Unsplash (also accessible inside of Miro in the 'images' feature). Gifs to follow soon no doubt! And to recap, here are the ideas found inside... Family PhotoFor the warm up I used Midjourney to generate some cheesy family portraits, upon which we added the heads of ourselves and our colleagues or family. The result was a banquet of tongue-in-cheek playfulness and sparkly tinsel overload. Very nice! Christmas card templatesWe also assembled Christmas cards based on some deconstructed designs I'd made before. The idea was so they didn't have to think too hard about the actual content, but to learn the essentials of Miro for design assembly and get a feel for what they could design if they had more time. FreestyleTaking what we'd learned and making our own custom cards with the help of some ready made assets. As you can imagine, the results were varied, playful, and full of heart! Christmas CrackersAs the finale I made an interactive surprise; pull-able crackers that revealed a little message from me, and invited a little message back. You could use this approach for end of year team thank you's, new year mantras, in-jokes and silly gifts. Such a nice way to end on a high π. Want to join the next event? To kick off 2026, I'm going to do a session focused specifically on interactive reveals and fun mechanics in Miro (though you can apply the concepts to any online whiteboarding tool). Think 'innovative ways to reveal content and invite engagement with the journey through the board'. ποΈ 28 January, 19:00 CET
In other news - do you love cards?CNVS is partnering with Alexandre Eisenchteter's new baby I Love Cards; a card deck building tool that means you can design your own collections as supportive prompts and resources for workshops, collaborations, conversations, and learning. The launch parties are on Tuesday (12:00 and 19:00 CET) and frankly I can't wait to see CNVS in action on the big screen! π
Until then, have a super rest-of-week, and enjoy starting to get yourself ready for the holiday season π Big hugs, Lucie P.S. I was thinking about sharing a free Miro template with some ready-made Christmas card designs that you can customise yourself. Is it something you would use? Or is there something else you think I should make for an end of year round-off? Write back and let me know π€ |
A visual design kit for workshop facilitators, online collaborators and visual storytellers who want to bring their content to life. Made especially for the non-designers in mind, this ma-hussive library is the key to making your work more visual even if you don't have the time, tools or skills to do so.
Hey Reader! I hope you're well this fine day, and after this email, I hope it's even finer! The latest illustration collection from CNVS is here, and it's a lovely combo of uber useful, and uber festive. First up... Cards, frames and borders Despite having over 200+ containers, I realised I hadn't made anything significant to support the most common dimensions π€¦βοΈ. An oversight now corrected! Inside this collection there are at least 16 styles for each ratio, and some corner edges you can...
Hey Reader! Greetings from a post-snowy Amsterdam - what a week! The smallest sight of a snowflake and the country collapses π. But even in amongst airport shutdowns and bike lane ice rinks, my awesome sister still made it to Amsterdam for a long weekend π. Certainly a super way to start the year is to spend time with someone who makes you feel top notch - especially if they're someone you can be a bit silly with. If youβre also feeling overdue for some proper one-to-one time with a sibling...
Hey Reader, Happy New Yeeeeeaaaaaaar!! π₯³ π₯ π Ahhhh, the second day of January π₯°. Got to love the smell of a fresh chapter! And as we turn the pages from one to another, I wanted to send some love and appreciation from the forests of Stromberg. I've been thinking about how a lot can change in 365 days. There have been quite some lower points, in amongst some medium-highs this year. But something that has consistently kept me fuelled is the genuine joy I take from designing CNVS, and the...
